When our students enter the workforce having developed these skills, they will have many more opportunities in high wage, high growth jobs.

Implementation Guide

Find ideas for implementation and alignment to the Standards for Career Ready Practice, CCSS and NGSS standards.

Essential Skills Student Reflection

Use the student reflection tool to give students an opportunity to evaluate their skills, growth and goals associated with a project, product or portfolio piece.

Essential Skills Student Showcase

Submit an entry by December 18 for inclusion in the January Showcase!

The San Diego County Office of Education and the San Diego Workforce Partnership are designing the Essential Skills Student Showcase, a digital event to showcase student work aligned to the essential skills. Student work will be displayed digitally throughout the month of January, celebrating the work they have done in the fall semester aligned to the essential skills.

We encourage educators to engage their students in building meaningful products, projects or portfolios, and having students reflect on their growth in one of the essential skills along the way. Students who are interested can then submit their work to be included in this regional showcase as an Essential Skills Student Leader.

Have your students complete the Essential Skills Project, Product or Portfolio Reflection as part of their end of semester coursework. Interested students can submit this reflection to be included in the Essential Skills Student Showcase for a chance of the title Essential Skills Student Leader.
