Al Love

SENIOR DIRECTOR, COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS

Al leads the College and Career Readiness Team. He has a long career in San Diego education, from CTE teacher and football coach to athletic director and district administrator.

Alex Becker

PROGRAM SPECIALIST, WORK-BASED LEARNING

Alex leads the CCR Team’s employer engagement and WBL coordination with San Diego schools. He is particularly interested in how humans identify their purpose and using that information to better prepare students for life after high school. Prior to SDCOE, Alex worked in the Los Angeles child welfare system and then at the San Diego Workforce Partnership as their STEAM program manager. He holds a B.A. from UCLA and a Master’s in Public Policy from USC. In his free time, he enjoys soccer, backpacking, reading, and playing with his cat.

Lydia Campos

SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN II

Lydia is responsible for the training and support of the ePortal system and works closely with educators and districts. Lydia is a credentialed teacher in multiple subjects (K-9) and has worked at SDCOE for 19 years. She is a native San Diegan and was a student in the Chula Vista school district.

Jewyl Alderson Clarke

COORDINATOR, INTEGRATED CURRICULUM

Jewyl supports pathway development working with site and district leaders and provides professional learning for teachers and counselors to support high-quality teaching and learning in career pathways. Prior to SDCOE, Jewyl spent 10 years teaching chemistry, medical chemistry, biology, earth science and math at Eastlake High and High Tech High and co-developed the Eastlake Medical Pathway. After earning a M.S. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, she designed career contextualized curriculum and led professional development for high schools through HASPI and the community college Regional Pathways project. Jewyl’s passion is empowering educators to build programs and guide students as they explore the right path for their career. 

Margie de Ruyter

COORDINATOR, CAREER PATHWAYS

Margie is the Career Pathways grant manager, responsible for the grant implementation, focusing on the achievement of grant objectives, performance reporting and compliance. She participates on the community college regional consortium's Strong Workforce Program workgroups to help inform priorities and goals for K-12 funding and provides support to the College and Career Readiness team in developing strategies to enhance and develop career pathways for K-12 districts. She has a B.A. in Human Services Administration from Springfield College, an Executive Management Certificate from UCLA, and is currently pursuing a MPA from Brandman University.

Bryan Glasrud

PROJECT SPECIALIST, WORK-BASED LEARNING

Bryan is our third industry liaison, along with Sonia and Ernesto. Before transferring to his role in College and Career Readiness, he worked in SDCOE’s Juvenile Court and Community Schools for six years where he provided job development, case management, and CTE instruction services (Information and Communication Technology) for students in and out of confinement. He earned a B.A. in Sociology and an M.S. in Criminal Justice and Criminology from San Diego State University.

Sonia Lira

PROJECT SPECIALIST, WORK-BASED LEARNING

Sonia's role is to engage employers to provide WBL activities for San Diego schools. She joins SDCOE from the Foundation for Grossmont & Cuyamaca Colleges, where she oversaw K-14 career pathway development. She has a B.A. from SDSU and a Master's in Leadership and Organizational Studies from Azusa Pacific University.

Ernesto Rivera

PROJECT SPECIALIST, WORK-BASED LEARNING

Ernesto is our second industry liaison (with Sonia). He joined SDCOE from the San Diego Workforce Partnership where he organized hiring and career events and developed internships for young adults entering the workforce. He has his credential for workforce development and career advising from UCSD.
